Mamadou Sakho has found a new destination. Free since his departure from Montpellier last November, the 34-year-old French defender (29 caps) is set to sign in Georgia. He will join Torpedo Kutaisi, currently second in the Georgian championship, on a one-year contract with an option for an additional year.

Mamadou Sakho seduced by the attractiveness of Torpedo Kutaisi #
Torpedo Kutaisi, a club that has been crowned champion of Georgia four times, is currently managed by Scottish Steve Kean. Sakho, in search of an ideal environment for his family, reportedly turned down offers from other clubs in January. He was seduced by the project of Torpedo Kutaisi, where he will benefit from conditions (attractive salary, family atmosphere) rarely offered to a player in the Georgian championship.
Having arrived in Hérault in July 2021 after stints in Paris, Liverpool, and Crystal Palace, he played 49 matches with MHSC before terminating his contract during the season. The reason: a violent dispute with his then coach Michel Der Zakarian.
